The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru shows some reduction on the nose that just blurs the edges of the black fruit here, though one can detect a subtle marine influence in the background. The palate is fresh on the entry, fleshy and generous with fine mineralité although, it does not quite have the engaging personality or the complexity of the Mazoyères-Chambertin. A very good Mazis, but I suspect it will gain more personality and depth with bottle age.
